I read these rules with some worry because I think there may be students who will take these advice at face value and go away believing that it is a one-size fit all winning formula. It may work for O levels, A levels, but one day when they hit that brick wall that cannot be overcome using this strategy, they do not know how to overcome it as they have never gone through the process of figuring it out for themselves. My own younger sibling is an example of this. Self-awareness, which I think you are abundantly equipped with but probably missed out in your process of writing the rules, would more likely provide for long-term sustainable success.

For high schoolers: There is a statewide movement under way to connect high school students ages 16 and 17 with learning about careers. A variety of programs are available that connect schools, with training programs and employers. Talk to your school counselor for more information.
Our toolkit below contains useful information and social media resources to help spread the word and encourage eligible 16 and 17 year olds to pre-register to vote. We provide access to our new "Our Time is Now" public service announcement (PSA), sample social media posts, and other important resources to educate California students.
Online pre-registration is available for eligible 16 and 17 year olds by visiting registertovote.ca.gov. California youth who pre-register to vote will have their registration become active once they turn 18 years old.
The California Education Code designates the last two full weeks in April and September to be High School Voter Education Weeks. This provides an opportunity for high schools and their students to partner with county elections officials to promote civic education and participation on campus and foster an environment that cultivates lifelong voters and active citizens.
To encourage students to become active voters once they are old enough to cast a ballot, Secretary of State Shirley N. Weber and Superintendent of Public Instruction Tony Thurmond invite high school and middle school students, teachers and principals to participate in the 2022 California Student Mock Election, which will take place in Fall 2022, for the General Election.
Working with the California Campaign for the Civic Mission of Schools and the Constitutional Rights Foundation, in coordination with the MyVoice National Student Mock Election, the Student Mock Election will stir students' interest in voting by tapping into the excitement of the campaign season. As students learn about the candidates and issues, they discover how government and politics affect every part of their lives. They gain firsthand knowledge of how citizens make their voice heard in our democracy, and experience the power of their votes when they are joined by thousands of California students and millions more across the United States who will vote in student mock elections this year.
Starting at age 16, high school students who are U.S. citizens, maintain a 2.5 grade point average, and have permission from their parent or guardian and school can learn how elections are run while they earn money as a student poll worker on Election Day. Depending on where you live, you may be eligible for a stipend ranging from $65 to $150. Visit pollworker.sos.ca.gov to complete the poll worker application. It only takes 2-3 minutes!
To encourage high school students to serve as poll workers, the Secretary of State invites students, teachers, school activities directors and others to post, email or hand out the High School Poll Worker recruitment flyer (PDF).
Before asking whether students would like a voter registration form to complete, we recommend that you review with your students the specific criteria required for voter registration. To register to vote in California, you must be:
The kids at the top of the class get there by mastering a few basic techniques that others can readily learn. Here, according to education experts and students themselves, are the secrets of straight-A students.
Top students brook no intrusions on study time. Once the books are open or the computer is booted up, phone calls go unanswered, TV shows unwatched, snacks ignored. Study is business; business comes before recreation. Here are some time management strategies all successful people use.
The value of hitting the books together was demonstrated in an experiment at the University of California at Berkeley. While a graduate student there, Uri Treisman observed a freshman calculus class in which Asian-Americans, on average, scored higher than other minority students from similar academic backgrounds. Treisman found that the Asian-Americans discussed homework problems together, tried different approaches, and explained their solutions to one another. The others, by contrast, studied alone, spent most of their time reading and rereading the text, and tried the same approach time after time even if it was unsuccessful. On the basis of his findings, Treisman suggested teaching group-study methods in the course. Once that was done, the groups performed equally well. Check out the things teachers wish they could tell you.
Since 1975 the MTF survey has measured drug and alcohol use and related attitudes among adolescent students nationwide. A nationally representative sample of survey participants report their drug use behaviors across three time periods: lifetime, past year, and past month. The survey is funded by the NIDA, a component of the National Institutes of Health (NIH), and conducted by the University of Michigan. 350c69d7ab
